The last blog!

Learning about the German speaking cultures has influenced how I view my own culture in that; I now see it more critically than before. I never really thought about the whole ‘superficial’ aspect that the Germans see. I always knew about fast food, and crazy work ethics, but I had never really thought about social differences. But then again, I had never really thought about how people outside of America socially acted. I would say it has made it easy for me to know which of my traits are similar to Germans and which ones were influenced by the American culture. For instance, I don’t mind a random person smiling at me while I walk down the street. However, I like keeping all the doors closed and keeping to myself sometimes, or having big debates as conversations. And I don’t find the German culture strange at all! It seems really interesting but I couldn’t really make a real opinion until I experience it. So, this whole course makes me want to go and try living in the culture to see if I could fit in and find it enjoyable. As for any foreigners living in America, I see it as some of Germany coming to me (or whatever place the person is from). I would definitely want to befriend that foreigner.
